SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 2 (UPI) -- Kevin Foster drained five 3-pointers en route to 28 points Monday and Santa Clara got past George Mason 81-73 in Game 1 of the College Basketball Invitational.
Evan Roquemore provided 20 points with six assists and Marc Trasolini chipped in with 17 points and seven rebounds for Santa Clara (25-11), which jumped out to the advantage in the three-game CBI championship round.
Raymond Cowels III also reached double figures with 10 points as the Broncos reeled off their fourth straight tournament win.
Jonathan Arledge led the Patriots (21-14) with 21 points and eight rebounds.
Patrick Holloway (17 points) and Bryon Allen (15, eight assists) also provided some scoring punch for George Mason, which will host Game 2 Wednesday.
