VILLANOVA, Pa., March 6 (UPI) -- A 20-point performance from JayVaughn Pinkston combined with a stern defense Wednesday brought Villanova a shocking 67-57 win over No. 5 Georgetown.

The Hoyas had an 11-game winning streak snapped and they fell back into a first-place tie with Louisville and Marquette at the top of the Big East Conference.

Villanova held a narrow lead for much of the contest, then pulled away late to damage Georgetown's hopes of grabbing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Darrun Hilliard added 14 points for the Wildcats (19-12, 10-8 Big East).

Otto Porter scored 17 points to pace Georgetown (23-5, 13-4). The Hoyas turned the ball over 22 times, 14 of which were steals by the Wildcats.

Georgetown will host Syracuse in their conference finale Saturday while Louisville will be at home against Notre Dame and Marquette will travel to St. John's.
