COL BKB: Wisconsin 73, Montana 49

ALBUQUERQUE, March 15 (UPI) -- Wisconsin's Ryan Evans and Jordan Taylor combined for 35 points Thursday in a solid 73-49 win over Montana in an NCAA Tournament second-round game.

Evans had 18 points and eight rebounds and Taylor 17 points and eight rebounds as the fourth-seeded Badgers (25-9) easily moved into the third round.

Montana (25-7) saw a 14-game winning streak end.

The second game Thursday at Albuquerque saw fifth-seeded Vanderbilt (25-10) defeat No. 12 Harvard 79-70. The Commodores go against Wisconsin in the third round Saturday.

The Badgers started slowly, trailing 5-2 a full 3 minutes into the game. But Josh Gasser made a 3-point shot, Evans added a pair of jump shots and Wisconsin steadily took command.

The Badgers were up 39-29 as Evans closed the first-half scoring with a layup. Early in the second period Taylor had a 3-pointer that was worth a 16-point lead. Wisconsin sailed from there.

Gasser had 12 points and Mike Bruesewitz and Ron Wilson 10 each for the Badgers.

Art Stewart had 18 points for Montana.
