NEWARK, N.J., March 13 (UPI) -- Jordan Theodore pumped in 21 points Tuesday and No. 1 seed Seton Hall held off Stony Brook 63-61 in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Herb Pope struck for 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Aaron Cosby added 10 points for the Pirates (21-12), who hold the top seed in the NIT's Region 3.
Seton Hall took control of the game midway through the second half, posting a 53-46 advantage, and withstood a late Stony Brook charge to hang on for the victory.
Dallis Joyner scored 14 points, Marcus Rouse added 13 and Bryan Dougher scored 12 for the eighth-seeded Seawolves (22-10).
