Michigan State, Ohio State roll in Big Ten

INDIANAPOLIS, March 10 (UPI) -- Draymond Green led a typically ferocious Michigan State defensive effort Saturday that put the Spartans in the Big Ten final with a 65-52 win over Wisconsin.

Eighth-ranked Michigan State will take on No. 7 Ohio State in the championship game Sunday after the Buckeyes rolled over Michigan 77-55.

All five members of Michigan State's starting lineup had a steal and the Spartans held Wisconsin to 34 percent shooting. The Badgers failed to score for an 8-minute stretch of the second half while the Spartans were piling up a 17-point lead.

Michigan State hit half its 42 field goal attempts and made 6-of-9 from 3-point range. Green scored 14 points for the Spartans (26-7) and Keith Appling had 13.

Wisconsin, ranked 12th in the country but only the No. 4 seed in this tournament, was led by 19 points from Jordan Taylor. The Badgers slipped to 24-9.

Jared Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas combined for 46 points in pacing Ohio State to its one-sided victory over Michigan in Saturday's second semifinal.

The Buckeyes jumped to a 16-3 lead and had no trouble putting away the Wolverines, who shot a mere 30 percent and could hit only 4-of-25 from 3-point range.

Sullinger had 24 points and Thomas made 10-of-15 from the field while scoring 22. William Buford was the only other player in double figures for Ohio State (27-6) with 10.

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 13 for Michigan (24-9).
