NORMAL, Ill., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Joe Ragland led four Wichita State starters in double figures Wednesday and the No. 19 Shockers won the MVC title with a 68-55 victory over Illinois State.

Wichita State will be the No. 1 seed when the Missouri Valley Conference tournament opens March 1 in St. Louis.

The Shockers led by nine points with 5:11 to play and removed all doubt by holding Illinois State to two points the rest of the way.

Ragland had 14 points and Garrett Stutz added 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Shockers (25-4, 15-2 MVC). Ben Smith and Demetric Williams had 11 points apiece.

Bryant Allen led the Redbirds (17-12, 8-9) with 17 points.
