Swedish skier Henrik Harlaut to the world: 'Wu-Tang is for the children’

SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Swedish skier Henrik Harlaut had a message to share with the world prior to his run down the slopestyle course in Sochi on Thursday: “Wu-Tang is for the children.”

The Swedish skier saw cameras closing in on him before his qualifying run so he took the opportunity to vocalize what he feels children should be listening to on their iPods and radios.

It’s hardly a surprise as the dreadlocked skier has Wu-Tang and Method Man listed under his “likes” on Facebook. (He has Freeskiing Sweden and the Jamaican Bobsled Team listed as well.)

Harlaut stuck by his statement on Twitter.

Although Harlaut’s remark may have been the first time an Olympic athlete mentioned the Wu, his sentiment was hardly unique. The late, great Old Dirty Bastard famously raided the stage at the 1998 Grammy Awards to remind the audience that “Wu-Tang teaches the children.”

Harlaut’s day on the slopes was also notable because he almost lost his pants. The 22-year-old took a spill during his run and gave spectators a look at his underwear. He ended up finishing seventh in the event.
