Darya Domracheva earns first gold medal for Belarus at Sochi

The Belarusian biathlete won the event by more than 30 seconds.

SOCHI , Russia, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Darya Domracheva earned the first medal for Belarus while competing in the women's 10-kilometer pursuit biathlon at the Sochi Games Tuesday.

The 27-year-old biathlete took home the gold by finishing in 29:30.7. Domracheva won by more than 30 seconds despite the 32-second deficit she had at the start.

CBC's Douglas Gelevan captured and shared an image of the Belarusian Olympian looking exhausted as she reached the finish line.

Norwegian Tora Berger finished in second place at 30:08.3 and Slovenian Teja Gregorin finished third arriving at 30:12.7.
