Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Undefeated Roma tied 0-0 with Cagliari to remain in second place in Italy's Serie A Monday, losing the opportunity to retake the top spot now occupied by Turin-side Juventus.

Roma has had a blinding start to the season but three ties in recent weeks have stuttered their form as last year's winners Juventus have pressed on. Roma is one point behind the Bianconeri while Cagliari is now in 14th place.

Elsewhere in European soccer, Aston Villa tied 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion. Shane Long scored twice for West Brom while Karim El Ahmadi and Ashley Westwood struck for Villa.

The two sides now remain level on points with 15 after 12 games played.

In Spain, Athletic Bilbao came back from a goal down to win 2-1 against Malaga. Juanmi opened the scoring but goals from Mikel San Jose and Iker Munian in the second half sealed the win for the Basque side.

Athletic is now in 5th place in La Liga, 14 points behind league leaders Barcelona. Malaga, on the other hand, is in 14th place. A couple years ago Malaga was injected with heavy funds by its Qatari owners, however the owners have scaled back in recent years and many top talents have been sold abroad and now their form is suffering as a result.
