Maria Sharapova has responded to snipes from Serena Williams' comments about her and her personal life in Rolling Stone.

Sharapova spoke to media in a pre-Wimbledon press conference on Sunday, and had some choice words for Williams. A reporter in the audience tweeted her words Sunday.

Williams responded shortly thereafter in her pre-Wimbledon interview, saying that she apologized to Sharapova on Thursday for bringing her into the Rolling Stone story and that she thought her apology was accepted.

Williams is dating her trainer, Frenchman Patrick Mourgatoglou, who began coaching Williams last year, while Sharapova is dating Grigor Dimitriov, who is rumored to be Williams' ex-boyfriend. Williams has not said the Rolling Stone comments are specifically about Sharapova.

Nationally, most of the article's outrage stemmed from Williams' comments on the Steubenville sexual assault case, in which two minors were found guilty of filming the rape of an inebriated girl.

Williams said the girl shouldn't "have put herself in that position," despite her saying the was not "blaming the girl." She has since apologize for those comments.

Sharapova and Williams will not play each other in Wimbledon until the final, should they both make it there.
