Chad Johnson was released from jail Monday, one week after he was sentenced to 30 days in prison after he butt-slapped his attorney in court.

While appearing before Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh, Johnson apologized for his behavior claiming he'd spent his time in jail reflecting on what he had done.

"I just wanted to apologize for disrespecting the court last time," Johnson said. "I apologize. I did have time to reflect on the mistakes I made in this courtroom."

In turn, Judge McHugh cut his 30-day jail sentence to the seven days he's already served.

Johson, 35, walked out of jail at around 4 p.m. where he met his attorney Adam Swickle, and sports agent Drew Rosenhaus. The football star told reporters he was thankful for McHugh because she had been able to get him to think about the path his life was taking.

"No one has been able to do it, not even my parents," he said. "I thank her. Everything she did was justified."

Johson, 35, came in front of the judge last week because he failed to meet with his probation officer for three months.
