Tiger Woods announces death of mother, 'biggest fan' Kultida

Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Kultida Woods, the mother of golf legend Tiger Woods, has died, Woods announced Tuesday. She was 81. He did not provide a cause of death.

"It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning," Woods wrote on his social media platforms. "My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable.

"She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible. She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie.

"Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you, Mom."

Kultida Woods was there to watch her son and his Jupiter Links Golf Club teammates win their first TGL match Jan. 27 at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She also attended many of the 15-time major winner's victories.

Woods' father, Earl, died in 2006. He was 74.
