NBA-NHL playoffs, NASCAR, Olympic trials headline sports on weekend

MIAMI, June 25 (UPI) -- The semifinals of the NBA and NHL playoffs and a couple of NASCAR races at Pocono Raceway headline sports action this weekend.

MLB, MLS and PGA Tour events and the U.S. Olympic Trials also air Friday through Sunday.

NBA acton starts at 8:30 p.m. EDT Friday, when the Milwaukee Bucks host the Atlanta Hawks at Fiserv Forum. Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on TNT. Hawks guard Trae Young erupted for a playoff career-high 48 points to lead his team to a Game 1 win.

Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks hope to tie the series Friday before it heads to Atlanta.

Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers host Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns at 9 p.m. EDT Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals airs on ESPN.

The Hawks host the Bucks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals at 8:30 p.m. EDT Sunday in Atlanta. That game airs on TNT.

Lightning-Islanders Game 7

The reigning champion Tampa Bay Lightning appeared poised to return to the Stanley Cup Final when they beat the New York Islanders 8-0 in Game 5 of their semifinals series. The Islanders then rallied to win Game 6 in overtime and forced a decisive Game 7.

The semifinals series finale starts at 8 p.m. EDT Friday in Tampa. Game 7 airs on NBCSN. The winner of the series battles the Montreal Canadiens next week in the Stanley Cup Final.

The Canadiens beat the Golden Knights in Game 6 on Thursday in Montreal to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1993.

NASCAR's Larson streaks into Pocono

NASCAR's Kyle Larson will attempt to keep his winning streak going this weekend when the Cup Series head to Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa.

Larson is the favorite to win the event. The driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet is on a four-race winning streak and sits in second place in the Cup Series standings.

Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, William Byron, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr., and Ryan Blaney are among the other Top-10 favorites to win.

Cup Series drivers start their engines for the Pocono Organics CBD 325 at 3 p.m. EDT Saturday at Pocono. They follow that race with the Explore the Pocono Mountains 350 at 3:30 p.m. EDT Sunday on the same track. Both races air on NBCSN.

Camping World Truck Series drivers compete in the first race of the weekend at Pocono. The CRC Brakleen 150 airs at noon EDT Saturday on FS1. Xfinity Series drivers compete in the Pocono Green 225 Recycled by J.P. Mascaro & Sons at noon Sunday EDT on NBCSN.

Olympic trials

Hundreds of elite American athletes still await to see if they will earn a spot on the Team USA Olympic team at the postponed 2020 Summer Games.

The Olympics are from July 23 through Aug. 8 in Tokyo. More than 500 athletes in total are expected to compete for Team USA in more than 40 sports. Olympic qualifying ends Tuesday.

The first day of U.S. Olympics trials for women's gymnasts airs at 8 p.m. EDT Friday on NBC. The second day of the Olympic trials for men's gymnasts airs at 4 p.m. Saturday on NBC. The second day of the trials for women starts at 8:30 p.m. Sunday on NBC.

Simone Biles, Sam Mikulak, Brody Malone, Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles are among the top gymnasts to watch at the trials, which take place at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis.

The best track and field athletes in the United States are in Eugene, Ore., this weekend attempting to qualify for Team USA.

Several track and field events will air on NBC. The women's 10,000-meter final airs at 1 p.m. EDT Friday on the Olympic Channel. The men's 3,000-meter steeplechase and discus airs at 5 p.m. EDT Friday on NBCSN.

The men's 5,000-meter final airs at 1 p.m. EDT Saturday on the Olympic Channel. The men's 400-meter hurdles, men's 110-meter hurdles and women's 200-meter race air at 9 p.m. Saturday on NBC.

The women's 400-meter hurdles, women's 800-meter race, men's 1,500-meter race and men's 200-meter race air at 7 p.m. EDT Sunday on NBC.
