June 17 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods suggested he will skip his next few tournaments, including the Travelers Championship and two new events, to instead prepare for the British Open.
Woods told reporters at the U.S. Open on Sunday he is considering resting until the British Open begins in July.
"I think I'm going to take a little bit of time off and enjoy some family time," said Woods, who finished tied for 21st at the U.S. Open.
Woods was asked directly if he would play before the British Open, which starts July 18 and ends three days later.
"I'll play at home, yeah," Woods replied.
The 15-time major champ would miss this week's Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn. He'd also miss the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, which runs from June 25 to June 30, and the 3M Open in Blaine, Minn. The 3M Open begins July 4 and ends July 7.
Both the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the 3M Open are first-year events.
Woods also would skip the weeklong John Deere Classic, which starts July 8 and concludes July 14.
Woods previously skipped all the events in between two majors after winning the Masters in April. He didn't play again until missing the cut at the PGA Championship.
