May 14 (UPI) -- San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture exploded for two goals in a span of 1:59 to equalize the score in the second period of Game 2 against the St. Louis Blues.
Couture notched his first score Monday night after stealing the puck from Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. The Blues defender was attempting to pass when Couture extended his stick and intercepted the puck. He raced by Pietrangelo and slid the puck under Blues goalie Jordan Binnington for a shorthanded goal.
Couture's next score came after a long pass from Sharks winger Timo Meier down the ice. He got behind St. Louis' defense and flicked a wrist shot past Binnington to tie the game 2-2 midway through the second frame.
Couture's pair of goals were his 12th and 13th scores of the postseason. He has 19 points (13 goals, six assists) in 16 games during the NHL playoffs.
Despite Couture's performance, the Blues picked up a 4-2 victory over the Sharks. Jaden Schwartz, Vince Dunn, Robert Bortuzzo and Oskar Sundqvist each scored for the Blues.
The Western Conference final series is tied 1-1. Game 3 is Wednesday night at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
