March 29 (UPI) -- The NCAA tournaments' Sweet 16 began Thursday night, with some of the top seeds from each region remaining in the field. During Friday's slate of games, No. 1 Duke, avoiding an upset with a one-point win over No. 9 UCF on Sunday, takes on fourth-seed Virginia Tech. Hokies guard Ty Outlaw was charged with marijuana possession last week, but passed a drug test Wednesday and will play against Zion Williamson and the Blue Devils.

No. 1 seed North Carolina takes on Bruce Pearl's red-hot Auburn Tigers, who cruised to an 89-75 win over Kansas in the second round. No. 2 Kentucky and third-seeded Houston face off in a defensive showdown.
No. 12 Oregon is the only double-digit seed remaining in the tournament. Along with Duke, the other three No. 1 seeds (Gonzaga, North Carolina and Virginia) advanced to the Sweet 16.

For the Sweet 16 and the Elite Eight, the contests relocate to: Louisville, Kentucky (South Regional); Anaheim, California (West Regional); Washington, D.C. (East Regional); Kansas City, Missouri (Midwest Regional).
The site of the Final Four is at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
