Feb. 26 (UPI) -- The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School hockey team won the Florida state championship this weekend and dedicated the win to victims from the shooting at the school.
Stoneman Douglas won the Lightning High School Hockey League Tier 1 state championship on Sunday with a 7-4 win against Jesuit.
The win came less than two weeks after 17 people died at the school in a Valentine's Day shooting.
Members of the team later took the medals and draped them over white crosses and stars of David memorializing the victims in Parkland, Fla., ABC News reported.

"We came into the game knowing we had to give it our all to get the win, and that's what we did," Stoneman Douglas forward Joey Zenobi told WZVN-TV. "And now we get to bring the trophy back to the best high school in America."
Douglas entered the tournament as the fourth seed. They won the semifinals by upsetting top seed East Lake 3-1, before pulling off the championship victory on Sunday.
The Eagles are now qualified to participate in the high school hockey national championships tournament in March. They take place in Plymouth, Minn.
Teachers returned to Stoneman Douglas on Monday, while students are set to return on Wednesday, South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
"Congratulations to Stoneman Douglas, the Tier I hockey state champions with a 7-4 victory today over Jesuit," the Eagles' opponents from Tampa tweeted Sunday. "The SD players endured unimaginable tragedy at their school, and now they will bring a state title back to their grieving community. #AMDG."
