Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman confronts Larry Nassar at sentencing

Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman confronted Larry Nassar during his sentencing in a Michigan courtroom Friday.

The 23-year-old athlete called the former USA Gymnastics doctor "so sick" while giving an impact statement at Ingram County Circuit Court in Lansing, Mich., according to ABC News.

Raisman faced Nassar, who pleaded guilty in November to sexually assaulting 10 girls under the guise of medical treatment. The disgraced doctor is accused of molesting over 140 former patients.

"You are so sick, I can't even comprehend how angry I feel when I think of you," Raisman said, according to CNN.

"Imagine feeling like you have no power and no voice. Well, you know what, Larry? I have both power and voice and I'm only beginning to just use them," she asserted. "All of these brave women have power, and we will use our voices to make sure you get what you deserve."

McKayla Maroney, Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Wieber, three of Maroney's teammates on the 2012 Olympic U.S. women's gymnastics team known as the "Fierce Five," have also accused Nassar of sexual abuse. Weiber also testified in court Friday.

"I thought that training for the Olympics would be the hardest thing I would ever do," the 22-year-old gymnast said, according to ESPN. "But in fact, the hardest thing I've had to do is process that I am a victim of Larry Nassar."

Nassar was previously sentenced to 60 years in prison in December after pleading guilty in July to child pornography charges.
