Dick Enberg: Sports world mourns loss of legendary broadcaster

The reaction is pouring in Friday, one day after news broke about the death of legendary broadcaster Dick Enberg.

And the reaction of one person probably rates as a triple version of "Oh my!" -- which was Enberg's signature call.

"To me, Dick Enberg was the greatest all-around sportscaster who ever lived and will never be emulated," legendary baseball broadcaster Vin Scully said in a statement released by the Los Angeles Dodgers. "He was a very dear friend of mine. He had my respect, admiration and my friendship. He will be sorely missed."

There can't be any higher praise than Vin Scully terming a person as the greatest all-time at his craft. But plenty of others chimed in which their respects for the broadcaster known for his stellar play-by-play of baseball, football, basketball and tennis, among other things.

Enberg, who died at age 82 in the San Diego suburb of La Jolla, completed his career as voice of the San Diego Padres in 2016.
