THIS WEEK: This will be the ninth race of the 10-race NASCAR Cup playoffs, as well as the elimination race of the three-race Round of 8 semifinal round. Following Sunday, four drivers will advance to Homestead-Miami Speedway for the season-ending and championship-deciding Ford EcoBoost 400. Three of the four finalists for the championship have already been decided: Kyle Busch (by win), Kevin Harvick (by win) and Martin Truex Jr. (on points). ... This will be the 43rd Cup race held at Phoenix. ... Joey Logano won this race last fall, Ryan Newman won this year's March race there. ... Harvick won this past Sunday's race at Texas Motor Speedway, earning him a trip to the championship race on Nov. 19. ... Here's the Cup point standings after Kansas: Truex (4,168 points), Busch (4,118 points), Harvick (4,112), Brad Keselowski (4,111), Denny Hamlin (4,092), Ryan Blaney (4,089), Chase Elliott (4,062) and Jimmie Johnson (4,060). ... Elliott and Johnson are in must-win situations at Phoenix if they hope to advance to Miami. They cannot make it on points.

TV: Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET -- NBC (Radio: Motor Racing Network, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90).

THIS WEEK: This is the 32nd Xfinity race at Phoenix. This will also be the elimination race of the Round of 8. The four highest-ranked drivers after Saturday's race advance to the Ford EcoBoost 300 championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 18. ... Busch won this race last fall, while Justin Allgaier won this March's race there. ... Erik Jones won this past Saturday's Xfinity race at Texas. Jones also won there in the spring race. ... Elliott Sadler (3,103) took over the No. 1 spot in the Xfinity point standings at Texas, followed by William Byron (3,098 points), Allgaier (3,094), Brennan Poole (3,079), Matt Tifft (3,074), Cole Custer (3,066), Daniel Hemric (3,061) and Ryan Reed (3,046).

NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES, LUCAS OIL 150 (150 laps, 150 miles around a 1-mile oval), Phoenix Raceway; Avondale, Ariz.

TV: Friday, 8:30 p.m. ET -- Fox Sports 1 (Radio: Motor Racing Network, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90).

THIS WEEK: This is the 29th time the Trucks will race at Phoenix. It also marks the end of the three-race Round of 6 semifinals. The four highest-ranked drivers after Friday's race will advance to race for the championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 17. ... Johnny Sauter won last Friday's race at Texas for the second time in three starts. ... Daniel Suarez won this race last fall. ... Christopher Bell remains No. 1 in the point standings (3,135 points), followed by defending series champ Johnny Sauter (3,131), two-time former Truck champ Matt Crafton (3,104), Austin Cindric (3,085), Ben Rhodes (3,080) and John Hunter Nemechek (3,046). Nemechek is in a must-win situation if he hopes to reach the championship round; he cannot do so just on points.

NATIONAL HOT ROD ASSOCIATION: AUTO CLUB NHRA FINALS, Nov. 9-12, at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Calif.

TV: Final eliminations, Sunday, 4-7 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.

THIS WEEK: This is the season-ending race for all pro classes. ... The NHRA had last weekend off after the previous race at Las Vegas Oct. 26-29. Winners of the Las Vegas event were: Terry McMillen (first career NHRA Top Fuel win), Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle). ... There are only a few drivers in contention for the championship in their respective classes. In Top Fuel, Steve Torrence (2,527 points) will try to hold off Brittany Force (2,507) and Doug Kalitta (2,443) for the championship. Of note, Antron Brown's run of two consecutive Top Fuel titles and three in the last five seasons will come to an end. In Funny Car, Robert Hight (2,548 points) will try to hold off defending series champ Ron Capps (2,533 points) and Courtney Force (2,423), who has a slight mathematical chance. In Pro Stock, Greg Anderson (2,597 points) will have to get past Bo Butner (2,557) and Jason Line (2,521) to win the title. And in Pro Stock Motorcycle, Eddie Krawiec (2,628 points) only has to qualify to clinch the championship over L.E. Tonglet (2,478).
