Oct. 2 (UPI) -- UNLV assistant hockey coach Nick Robone was among the victims of Sunday night's mass shooting in Las Vegas.

The 28 year old was attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival with his younger brother and their friends before he was hit in the chest, according to UNLV.

A source told CBS Las Vegas that Robone is breathing from a ventilator and is in stable condition.

UNLV said in a statement Monday afternoon that the rest of the school's coaches, student athletes and staff are safe and accounted for.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families affected by this horrible tragedy," UNLV athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois said in the statement. "We have learned that Nick Robone, a member of the UNLV club hockey program's coaching staff was wounded and we are praying for his full recovery. All of the UNLV athletics department's coaches, student-athletes and staff are accounted for and safe. Thank you to our law enforcement, first responders and volunteers throughout southern Nevada and here at the Thomas & Mack Center for their work throughout the night. Our city is strong and resilient and UNLV athletics will do all that we can to help heal as a community."

Robone was in surgery in the intensive care unit to remove the bullet from his chest.

"UNLV hockey assistant coach Nick Robone is out of surgery, to remove a bullet from a gun shot wound to his chest, resulting from the tragic events yesterday evening at the route 91 Harvest Festival," UNLV Rebel Hockey said in a Twitter statement Monday. "The bullet missed his lung, though it is bruised badly. He's in the ICU and will remain in hospital for the near future. He is expected to make a full recovery. We would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of support. Please keep all of Las Vegas in your prayers at this time."

Sunday's tragic event left at least 58 people dead and hundreds injured after a gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
