Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Pennsylvania's Jack Regenye made the catch of the year, regardless of the stage, in Sunday's Junior League World Series.

His 13 and 14-year old Kennett Square squad would eventually lose 12-1 to Chinese Taipei, but Regenye's snag will be talked about forever. The game was played at Heritage Park in Taylor, Mich.

Left-handed hitter Yi Hsiang Lin was at the plate in the fourth inning during the play, with Chinese Taipei leading 5-1. Hsiang Lin smoked an 0-1 offering. He rounded the bases and his teammates gathered at home plate to celebrate.

But Regenye tracked the ball to his right, before jumping up and snagging it as it cleared the centerfield fence. His momentum carried him over the barrier and onot the ground outside the park. He stood up and showed the ball to the umpire.

"I saw the ball," Regenye said on SportsCenter Sunday. "And I saw Nick [Patterson] to my right, yelling 'fence, fence, fence'...like the first time ever. I tracked it, and instincts kicked in, and I caught the ball."

Regenye's sensational snare was first ruled an out, before being overturned twice.

Kennett Square (19-0) beat Rutherford County, N.C. 15-2 to win the United States title. Taipei beat Venezuela 4-3 Saturday for its fifth straight international title.

Regenye, 14, skipped high school soccer tryouts to play in the game, according to the Detroit News.

"Maybe that'll [the catch] help," he told the Detroit News,

Regenye was 1-for-3 at the plate. Yi Hsiang Lin was 1-for-3 and scored two runs in the victory.
