WASHINGTON -- A moment of silence was observed Saturday night at the Washington Nationals' home game against the San Francisco Giants for the victims of a clash at the "Unite the Right" rally earlier in the day at Charlottesville, Va.
President Trump spoke out against the violence in which a car plowed into a group of counter-protesters in Charlottesville.
Charlottesville is about 115 miles southwest of Nationals Park and is the home to the University of Virginia.
The game Saturday night included three former Virginia players on the rosters of the Giants and Nationals: first baseman Ryan Zimmerman and pitcher Sean Doolittle of Washington and outfielder Jarrett Parker of the Giants.
Parker, from nearby Stafford, Va., singled in the first inning in his first-ever at-bat at Nationals Park.
"It's the worst kind of hatred. It's disgusting," Doolittle told The Washington Post.
