The Knicks want to pursue a conversation with Anthony about possibly reincorporating him into the organization, league sources told ESPN.
After talking with the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers over the past month about a possible deal for Anthony, the Knicks told both teams they are stepping back from trade talks for a short time, according to the report.
The Knicks are in the middle of reshaping their front office after the departure of Phil Jackson as team president last month following three disappointing seasons. Scott Perry officially accepted the general manager position on Friday -- he was the Sacramento Kings' vice president of basketball operations.
Earlier this week the Raptors acquired veteran swingman C.J. Miles in a sign-and-trade deal from the Pacers for Joseph.
The 6-foot-9, 220-pound Preldzic began playing professionally in 2003 and spent eight seasons (2007-15) with Fenerbahce Ulker (Turkey) of the EuroLeague. He played the past two seasons with Darussafaka (2015-16) and Galatasaray (2016-17) in the Turkish League.
Joseph averaged 8.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists during 160 regular-season games (26 starts) over two seasons with Toronto. He averaged 8.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 30 playoff games.
--The Los Angeles Lakers officially signed shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the team announced.
Pope received a one-year deal worth $18 million, according to multiple reports. His agreement with the Lakers was reported earlier this week.
Caldwell-Pope averaged 13.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and a career-high 2.5 assists in 76 games last season with the Pistons. He averaged 11.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 314 career contests since being selected by the Pistons with the eighth overall pick of the 2013 draft.
Caldwell-Pope will miss the first two games of the 2017-18 season after the NBA suspended him last month following his guilty plea to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated in Auburn Hills, Mich. He was arrested in March after police pulled him over for driving 45 mph in a 25-mph zone and a breathalyzer test displayed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.08.
