A day after Phil Jackson was fired after an unsuccessful three-year reign as president of the New York Knicks, Isiah Thomas tweeted on Thursday that he was not interested in rejoining the team's front office.

Thomas is currently president of the WNBA's New York Liberty and he wrote on twitter: "I'm not interested in joining @nyknicks. I'm happy with the @nyliberty & NBATV. I wish the best for the Knicks and @PhilJackson11."

In Thursday's edition of the Daily News, which featured a back page of Spike Lee rejoicing under the headline "Moment of Zen," Thomas was considered a "dark horse" candidate to replace Jackson, who was fired after the team posted an 80-166 record in his three seasons.

The Knicks are reportedly interested in Toronto Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri, and ESPN reported on Thursday that Kentucky coach John Calipari has indirectly expressed interest in the job.

Thomas was with the Knicks from December 2003 through April 2008. He held the role of president of basketball operations and coached the Knicks to a 56-108 record from 2006 to 2008 before being fired by Donnie Walsh.

Most Knick fans considered Thomas' tenure among the worst stretches in the team's history as the team went winless in four playoff games and never won more than 39 games in any season and lost 59 games twice.

During his five-year reign he traded two lottery selections for Eddy Curry and was a central figure in an ugly sexual harassment suit brought against Madison Square Garden by former executive Anucha Browne Sanders.

Thomas rejoined Madison Square Garden as the Liberty's president in 2015, fueling speculation he would eventually officially return to the Knicks in some capacity.
