Deacon Liput cracked a three-run homer as No. 3 Florida advanced to the championship round in its bracket Tuesday night, dumping No. 7 Louisville 5-1 in the College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.
The victory means that the Gators don't have to play until Friday, when a win would push them into the best-of-three championship series against the winner from the other bracket.
The Cardinals (53-11) face an elimination game Thursday night against TCU, which ousted Texas A&M 4-1 earlier Tuesday.
Liput's blast was his third of the year, giving the Gators (49-18) a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. The two-out shot scored Nelson Maldonado, who walked, and Jonathan India, who singled.

Brady Singer and two relievers had no problem making the lead stick. Singer (8-5) scattered six hits and allowed a run over seven innings, walking one and fanning nine. Tyler Dyson logged the final four outs for his third save.
Louisville starter Kade McClure (8-4) gave up only three hits in six innings, but was touched for four runs. Like Singer, he walked one and whiffed nine.
Florida scored first when Austin Langworthy clubbed a solo homer down the left field line with one out in the third inning, his fourth homer of the year.
After Liput's clout, the Gators added one more run in the seventh. Catcher Mike Rivera doubled to right-center, scoring Liput, who led off the inning with a single.
The Cardinals avoided a shutout in their half of the seventh. Brendan McKay led off with a double and scored on a two-out single to right by Colin Lyman. Louisville loaded the bases later in the inning, but Singer induced a fielder's choice grounder from Logan Taylor.
Louisville managed only one more baserunner for the rest of the game.
