The Cleveland Cavaliers signed a multiyear deal to wear Goodyear's Wingfoot patch on their jerseys starting with the 2017-18 season.

The Cavs and the tire company, founded and headquartered in Akron, Ohio, will formally announce the partnership Monday, according to the Plain Dealer.

Cavs star LeBron James is Akron's favorite son and the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company is the city's cornerstone company, founded in 1898.

The NBA announced a year ago the approval of a three-year pilot program to sell ads on uniforms starting next season. The sponsorship patch will measure approximately 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches and be adjusted to fit the dimensions of each sponsor's logo.

The Wingfoot patch will appear on the front left of the jersey, opposite the Nike logo.
