The NFL and HBO agreed to extend the run of "Hard Knocks," a behind-the-scenes reality television show of the league's training camps.

According to Sports Business Journal, "Hard Knocks" will remain on HBO for at least the next four seasons. HBO Sports, NFL Media and NFL Films signed a long-term deal to keep the reality series on the network, according to Monday's report.

The series debuted in 2001 with the Baltimore Ravens. The 12th edition of "Hard Knocks" will make its debut on Aug. 8 with a yet-to-be-named team.

The NFL put in guidelines four years ago on which teams were eligible to be featured on the show. Teams with a first-year head coach, had a playoff berth within the prior two seasons or had already appeared on the show within the past 10 years are exempt. This year's eligible teams are the Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, Ravens, New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans, according to NFL.com.

The Los Angeles Rams were on the show last year after the franchise moved from St. Louis.

Most NFL teams prefer not to appear on the program because they view it as a distraction.

Browns coach Hue Jackson, who has been on "Hard Knocks" as an assistant coach, said recently he didn't want his team on the series this year.

"Oh, my God. I'm not interested in that," Jackson said in February. "I'm interested in just coaching our team and getting our team better."
