Ronda Rousey 'too vain' for comeback, says Bethe Correia

March 14 (UPI) -- One of Ronda Rousey's biggest UFC rivals still wants a rematch.

Bethe Correia recently spoke to MMA Fighting. She briefly talked about her UFC 190 appearance in 2015 in Rio de Janeiro against Rousey. During that fight, she was knocked out in 34 seconds.

That fight was Rousey's last win in MMA. Since then she has suffered two consecutive setbacks to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. UFC president Dana White is leading a cast of experts who think that Rousey's fighting career could be over.

Correia said she was surprised Rousey returned to fight Nunes.

"I really didn't know how Ronda would return," Correia told MMA Fighting. "I think she had the skills to fight Amanda and win, but I didn't know how she would be. A fight is not just about what you train, half of the fight is your head. You can have the best camp or your life but you're not mentally there, nothing works."

Nunes beat Rousey in 48 seconds in the title fight. Correia fought to a draw against Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night 106 on March 11 in Brazil.

After her fight against Correia, Reneau said she didn't "accept the draw."

Correia also said that she thought Rousey's "vanity" was her downfall.

"I hope she would come back because I want a rematch with her," Correia told MMA Fighting. "We have unfinished business, things to settle. But I believe she won't come back. I always said she was too vain and wasn't mentally strong to lose. I think he vanity was an issue against Amanda. She thought she could go back and trade with her. She's too vain to accept the defeat and start over. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have the rematch, but I'd love that."

Rousey has been up and down psychologically since losing the fights. She said she hit rock-bottom and told Ellen that she was suicidal at one point. She has been active lately on social media with motivational quotes and messages in support of equality.
