March 11 (UPI) -- Johnny Manziel, the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback who washed out of the NFL amid legal problems and battles with substance abuse, confirmed he is engaged to model girlfriend Bre Tiesi. Manziel had been dating Tiesi since December and credited her with helping him achieve sobriety after multiple failed stints in rehab.

"When you find a girl as amazing as I did that saved me from where I was in my life, you absolutely put a ring on it," Manziel told TMZ Sports.
Manziel said he proposed to Tiesi during a recent trip to Paris.
The Texas A&M product who was drafted 22nd overall by the Cleveland Browns in 2015 played parts of two tumultuous seasons in the NFL. His time in Cleveland was marred by off-the-field reports of heavy partying, violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy, injuries and spotty play. Manziel was cut by the Browns after the 2015 season and did not receive any offers from other teams.
That could change, though. At the NFL Scouting Combine, reports surfaced Manziel was attempting to make a comeback and was drawing interest from several teams, though none have made him an offer.
Manziel, who said he is now sober, is willing to submit to random drug tests for any team willing to sign him, according to reports.
