Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the visiting San Francisco 49ers as he recovers from a shoulder subluxation.

"He got close; he's just not quite strong enough yet," coach Bruce Arians said Friday, adding when asked how long Mathieu might remain out, "Who knows? We'll wait and see until the thing is really solid."

Cornerback Tharold Simon (ankle) was also ruled out for the Cardinals (3-4-1).

Outside linebacker Alex Okafor (calf strained) is listed as questionable, but is expected to play against the 49ers (1-7) on Sunday (4:25 p.m., ET).
