President Barack Obama will welcome the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers to the White House on Thursday, the same day President-elect Donald Trump will be visiting 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The visit has been in the planning stages for quite a while. Cavaliers players and coach Tyronn Lue wanted to celebrate the title while Obama, the first African-American president -- was still in office.

The visit also coincides with a game against the Washington Wizards on Friday night.

LeBron James was an outspoken supporter of Hillary Clinton, whom Trump defeated in an election that shocked the nation on Tuesday.

He remained positive on Wednesday, telling those who might be disappointed to keep the faith.

Another White House visitor on Thursday will be Ohio Gov. John Kasich. Kasich opposed Trump in the Republican primary and did not endorse his candidacy.
