Atlanta Falcons' Matt Ryan named NFC Offensive Player of Week

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after his four-touchdown passing performance in Week 9, the NFL announced Wednesday.

Ryan completed 73.5 percent of his passes, connecting on 25 of 34 while totaling 344 yards and a season-high 144.7 passer rating in the Falcons' 43-28 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Thursday night.

San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon took the AFC offensive honor for his effort in the 43-35 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Gordon ran 32 times for 196 yards and a touchdown, and caught four passes for 65 yards, giving him 261 yards from scrimmage.

New York Giants safety Landon Collins was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after a sack, interception and six tackles in the 28-23 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack won the AFC defensive award after he had two sacks, a forced fumble and a recovery in the 30-20 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday night.

Indianapolis Colts returner Jordan Todman took the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in the 31-26 win against the Green Bay Packers that helped earn him AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Detroit Lions kicker Matt Prater took the NFC special teams award after he converted a 58-yard field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter to force overtime in the 22-16 win against the Minnesota Vikings. He was 3 for 3 on field-goal attempts.
