The Miami Dolphins placed tight end Jordan Cameron on injured reserve Saturday, with his season and reportedly career in jeopardy after he sustained his fourth concussion in as many years.

Cameron has expressed concerns about his long-term health to people close to him, the Miami Herald reported on Saturday.

Miami promoted tight end Thomas Duarte from the practice squad to take the roster spot of Cameron, who has been sidelined since Sept. 25.

Cameron had eight catches for 60 yards and a touchdown in the first three games this season. The 28-year-old was injured in an overtime win against the Cleveland Browns, his former team.

Signed to a two-year deal with Miami in 2015, Cameron collected 43 receptions for 446 yards and four touchdowns in 19 games with the club. He reeled in 173 catches for 2,046 yards and 14 touchdowns in 66 career contests with the Browns and Dolphins.

Duarte is expected to see action in Sunday's game against the rival New York Jets with fellow tight end Dion Sims ruled out with a concussion. MarQueis Gray and Dominique Jones are also expected to see snaps at the tight end position.
