The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed running back Knile Davis on Saturday after he was traded last month to the Green Bay Packers before being released a couple of weeks later. The Chiefs traded Davis to the Packers on Oct. 18 but he was released on Oct. 31.

At the time Davis was traded, it looked like the Chiefs had depth at the running back position. But then Jamaal Charles and Spencer Ware suffered injuries, leaving the Chiefs with little depth.
The Chiefs ruled out Ware for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars as he continues to recover from a concussion suffered in last Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Charles had exploratory surgery Wednesday on his right knee and the four-time Pro Bowl selection was placed on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least eight weeks.
Kansas City will start Charcandrick West against the Jaguars. West, second on the Chiefs with 139 rushing yards, played last week mostly in the second half after Ware left the game, rushing for 52 yards on 14 carries. West led the Chiefs last season with 634 rushing yards.
Davis was a third-round pick of the Chiefs in 2013 out of the University of Arkansas. He played in 50 games with 233 carries for 775 yards with 11 touchdowns in his three-plus years with the Chiefs.
The Davis signing gives the Chiefs three running backs for Sunday, including Bishop Sankey who signed with the team earlier this week.
The Chiefs also placed rookie left guard Parker Ehinger on the injured reserve list. Ehinger injured his knee in the game against the Colts.
Ehinger made four starts this year after winning the starting left guard job out of training camp, playing a total of 229 offensive snaps before his injury.
The Chiefs also promoted defensive lineman David King to the active roster from the practice squad and released offensive lineman Jordan Devey.
