LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- One of the most popular female athletes says she will soon be hanging up her dukes.
Mixed martial arts fighter Ronda Rousey told daytime talk show host Ellen Degeneres on Tuesday that she doesn't plant to be fighting for much longer.
The former UFC bantamweight champion said she will return to the ring for a bout against Amanda Nunes on Dec. 30. After that, though, it gets a bit murky.
"Not that long," Rousey replied, when asked by Degeneres how much longer she will be in the sport. "I'm wrapping it up. This is definitely one of my last fights. Everyone better watch the show. It isn't going to last forever."
Rousey, who began UFC fighting in 2012, has lost just one fight in her career, to Holly Holm a year ago. She has consistently been listed as one of the most popular and successful female athletes in history.
"I think it's the buildup that is more tiring than anything else," she added. "If we had a fight right now, I'd fight and go get dinner and I wouldn't really feel tired about it. It's the weeks and weeks of buildup beforehand."
Rousey's fight next month will be in the 135-pound division. Nunes is 13-4 in her career.
