Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia completed one of the stronger seasons of his career despite being limited on an ailing knee.

Pedroia underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Wednesday and should be ready for spring training, the team announced.

Team orthopedist Dr. Peter Asnis performed the procedure at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Pedroia injured his knee in mid-September in Toronto, according to the Boston Globe.

Despite the injury, the 33-year-old Pedroia played in 154 of 162 games during the regular season and all three contests in Boston's American League Division Series versus the Cleveland Indians.

Pedroia batted .318 with 15 homers and 74 RBIs during the regular season. The four-time All-Star's 201 hits accounted for his highest total since his AL MVP season in 2008.
