Andy Murray reaches China Open final vs. Grigor Dimitrov

Andy Murray clinched his spot in the final of the China Open in Beijing by cruising past David Ferrer, 6-2, 6-3, on Saturday.

Murray already has secured his spot in the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in his native Great Britain next month and could further close the gap on Novak Djokovic for the No. 1 spot in the world with a win in Sunday's final.

Murray surrendered a break in each of the two sets against Ferrer but had no trouble storming back, winning the final five games of the first set and taking the final four of the second set to close it out.

"I did well," Murray said. "I was obviously 2-1 down with a break in the first set. I played very well. Even the period in the second set where he came back a bit, when he broke me, there was a lot of long points. Really good tennis I thought."

Murray will square off against another player surging up the rankings, Grigor Dimitrov, who reached the final in a walkover after Milos Raonic withdrew because of an ankle injury.

Dimitrov beat Rafael Nadal to reach the semifinals and is searching for his first 2016 title after falling in a pair of finals.

"(Dimitrov) has been playing a lot better obviously the past few months," Murray said. "Obviously he's got high ambitions, I'm sure. The past few months, he's done well. He had obviously a very good win against (Nadal) yesterday. It will be a hard match."

Sixth-seeded Nick Kyrgios and the No. 5 seed David Goffin will meet in the final of the Rakuten Japan Open in Tokyo after both took out higher-seeded players in the semifinals.

Kyrigos converted two break points in the second set and ended up with a straight-sets win over second-seeded Gael Monfils, 6-4, 6-4. The Australian Kyrgios is looking for his third title of the season.

"It was an unbelievable match; we both played very well," Kyrgios said. "The crowd loved it and we both had a lot of fun out there. Not many people on tour can hit the type of shots Gael can. He's an unbelievable entertainer and athlete.

"We play different games. I rely on my serve more, but I want to work to become as athletic as he is and also be an entertainer like him."

Goffin needed to work harder to take out Marin Cilic in his semifinal, 7-5, 6-4. Goffin, who will be playing his first final, went down 3-5 in the opening set before earning a break. He did not have his serve broken the rest of the way.

"I didn't play my best tennis at the beginning of the week, but match-by-match I was able to find my rhythm," Goffin said. " ... Today I was playing much better. It's a small mental thing, but once you are comfortable and playing freely, it makes a big difference on the court."
