Alexander Zverev stuns Stan Warinka to win St. Petersburg Open

Stan Wawrinka's finals winning streak was halted at 11 on Sunday when Germany's Alexander Zverev posted a stirring 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 victory in the championship match of the St. Petersburg Open in Russia.

The upset marks the first ATP win for the fifth-seeded Zverev. The 19-year-old is the first man to beat the Swiss standout in a final since 2013.

"It's great at such a young age as well," Zverev said afterward. "It's something that I could only dream of and I'm really proud of myself right now."

The top-seeded Wawrinka was attempting to win back-to-back events after his strong performance in winning the U.S. Open.

Wawrinka had won 10 consecutive matches prior to Sunday's loss. He complimented Zverev's performance.

"You played a great match and won deservedly," Wawrinka said. "My congratulations for what you're doing so far."

Pouille prevails in Moselle Open

Lucas Pouille won his first career crown by knocking off Austria's Dominic Thiem 7-6 (5), 6-2 in the title match of the Moselle Open at Metz, France.

The third-seeded Pouille was thrilled to have his first career title come in his home country.

"I'm really happy to win my first title here," Pouille said afterward. "I played well from the beginning."

The top-seeded Thiem wilted in the second set after a competitive first set was decided in a tiebreaker.

"It was a very good first set from both of us, not many chances to break," Thiem said afterward. "I was 4-0 up in the tiebreak but Lucas was the better player and deserves his first title."
