Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler did not practice Friday and is listed as doubtful to play Sunday night in Dallas against the Cowboys because of a sprained right thumb.

The news is not a surprise after Cutler suffered the injury during Monday night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears anticipate Cutler being sidelined for multiple games.

The 0-2 Bears will start journeyman quarterback Brian Hoyer against the Cowboys (1-1). Quarterback Matt Barkley was added to the Bears' 53-man roster on Thursday.

Hoyer took the Houston Texans into the playoffs last season but then had a four-interception game in a playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hoyer, with his fifth team in eight seasons, was 9-of-12 passing for 78 yards in relief of Cutler, who was injured late in the third quarter against the Eagles.

Also listed as doubtful for the Bears are defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (ankle) and running back Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring). Linebacker Danny Trevathan (thumb) had already been ruled out.
