An arrest warrant has been issued for suspended Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon in a child paternity case.

The case stems from a complaint made in Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Juvenile Court from Christina Lockhart of Maple Heights, which is outside Cleveland. She claims Gordon is the father of her now 1-year-old daughter, according to Cleveland.com.

The complaint against Gordon was first filed in July 2015. The warrant was issued by a judge on Aug. 31 after Gordon did not respond to subpoenas sent to several different addresses in Los Angeles and Cleveland, demanding that he take a DNA test.

Gordon was due to appear at a hearing on Aug. 31 but was not present, which led to the warrant.

"We are aware of the situation," the Browns said in a statement. "Josh and his attorney are working with the Cuyahoga County Courts to resolve this matter. We have no further comment at this time."

An NFL spokesman said Wednesday that the warrant "will not affect his status" with the league.

Gordon is not permitted to speak to the media because of his four-game substance-abuse suspension. He was suspended for the entire 2015 season by the NFL for violations of the policies. He also was suspended 10 games in 2014 and two games in 2013.
