EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants kicker Josh Brown's Sunday began like most others in his career in that he came to work, signed a few autographs for fans on his way in, and then went out to contribute to a team victory.
Only this past Sunday wasn't like the others for the 37-year-old Brown, who was making his return to the team following his one-game league imposed suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy for an alleged domestic violence issue that took place last year with his now former wife, Molly.
Brown, who prior to Sunday had last addressed reporters the day after his suspension was announced, politely declined to answer questions from reporters regarding new details that emerged following the announcement of his suspension. That included accusations by Molly Brown that he was violent toward her at least 20 separate times.
"I have nothing to say about it. Literally nothing," he said. "My family and I have moved on. My concern is my children and that's it. Everything that I said prior to the day my suspension came out is all I am going to say."
Brown did, however, express gratitude toward team co-owner John Mara, who last month drew heat from the public after explaining and defending the team's decision to re-sign Brown despite having knowledge of his personal issues.
"I was very happy about it," Brown said. "I appreciated everything Mr. Mara says. He has quite a bit of knowledge about my situation. I appreciated the fact that the Giants stood beside me and behind me. I'll continue to do whatever I can to make sure they never regret their decision."
Brown spent his time away caring for his young daughter -- he shares with his ex-wife -- and said he avoided reading any papers that might have reported on the allegations and history against him.
He instead seemed to light up when asked football-related questions, particularly after nailing the game-winning 23-yard field goal in the 16-13 win over the New Orleans Saints.
"It feels good. It feels like any other game-winner," Brown said. "My focus is this team and kicking balls through the uprights. This is not news to me. None of this stuff is news to me. I've continued to play well here. I will continue to play well here.
"I'm moving on, as I always have. I'm going to continue to kick as I always have. That's my focus."
As for those who continue to express outrage and disappointment about him still having a place in the Giants organization, a team that last year participated in anti-domestic violence ad campaigns, Brown shook his head.
"I have no comment for them. Everyone has an opinion and they're allowed to have that," he said.
