The Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday were awarded cornerback Tharold Simon on waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.

Simon appeared in 10 of his 11 games with the Seahawks last season, starting five. The 6-foot-3, 202-pounder made 13 tackles and had one interception.

A fifth-round draft choice out of LSU in 2013, Simon will likely compete for playing time opposite All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson.

Rookie Brandon Williams struggled in his first career start for the Cardinals in a season-opening loss to the New England Patriots. Justin Bethel is a perennial Pro Bowler on special teams but struggled in coverage last season.

To make room on the roster for Simon, Arizona waived injured linebacker Lamar Louis.
