Tampa Bay Buccaneers place WR Evan Spencer on reserve/retired list

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed wide receiver Evan Spencer on the reserve/retired list Friday.

Spencer played collegiately at Ohio State and entered the league as a sixth-round pick by the Washington Redskins in the 2015 draft. He spent the 2015 offseason and preseason with Washington before being waived last Sept. 9.

Spencer joined Tampa Bay's practice squad in Week 3 last season. He was on the Bucs ' practice squad until Week 17, when he was promoted to the active roster and saw playing time against the Carolina Panthers.

Spencer was cut last week and placed on the practice squad after he spent the offseason and preseason with Tampa Bay.

Spencer, 23, is the son of Buccaneers running backs coach Tim Spencer.
