Outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil will not play Sunday in the regular-season opener for the Baltimore Ravens because of a setback in his recovery from offseason foot surgery.

Dumervil did not practice Wednesday and said the turnaround is too tight to expect positive results on the field Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

"It's a little disappointing," Dumervil said. "Sometimes you've just got to wait your turn and when the opportunity presents itself, take full advantage."

Dumervil, 32, was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Aug. 22. But his last practice was Aug. 29, and the next date -- when he might return to the starting lineup -- is very much up in the air.

The Ravens play the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.

"We'll just see. We're working really hard, and the training staff is working really hard with me," Dumervil said. "Just doing my very best to get out there as soon as I can. So I don't know when the time can be. It can be next week or the following week. I don't know."

With Dumervil out, Albert McClellan is likely to start against former Ravens backup Tyrod Taylor, who had a breakout season with the Bills in his debut as a starter in 2015.

"We wanted it to be Week 1," Dumervil said, "but unfortunately, it wasn't."
