The St. Louis Cardinals activated first baseman Matt Adams from the 15-day disabled list on Friday.

Adams, 28, had been sidelined since Aug. 10 due to right shoulder inflammation. He is expected to return for Friday night's series opener against the Reds in Cincinnati.
