Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is suffering from a slight MCL sprain and did not play against the San Diego Chargers on Friday night.

"It's just minor," head coach Bruce Arians said after the Cardinals lost to the San Diego Chargers 19-3.

Fitzgerald was seen running on the field during pregame warmups but dressed in shorts and a long-sleeved T-shirt on the sideline during the game, according to ESPN.com.

Fitzgerald missed two games in 2014 because of an MCL injury in his right knee.

The Cardinals recently rewarded Larry Fitzgerald with one-year contract extension through the 2017 season.

Fitzgerald, a nine-time Pro Bowler, had a career-best 109 receptions last season -- which was also a franchise record -- for 1,215 yards and nine touchdowns. He is entering his 13th NFL season.

The 32-year-old Fitzgerald is the franchise leader in receptions (1,018), receiving yards (13,366), receiving touchdowns (98), total touchdowns (98), 100-yard games (41) and consecutive games with a reception (179). He enters the 2016 season ranked 11th in NFL history in catches and 15th in receiving yards.
