Brazil orders passport seizures of U.S. swimmers Ryan Lochte, James Feigen
RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A Brazilian judge on Wednesday ordered the passports of U.S. Olympic swimmers Ryan Lochte and James Feigen be seized following their robbery report.
Lochte and Feigen -- along with Olympians Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger -- said they were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday after leaving a party. Brazilian media have since reported that investigators have found no evidence the robbery occurred.
Lochte, the only one of the swimmers to publicly speak of the alleged incident, had already left Brazil before Judge Keyla Blanc de Cnop issued the passport seizure order. Feigen's whereabouts are unclear.
Olympics official arrested for ticket scalping
RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A member of the International Olympic Committee has been arrested in Rio de Janeiro for allegedly scalping tickets.
Patrick Hickey, 71, of Ireland, is suspected of illegally passing on tickets for Rio's Olympic games that could be sold for high prices -- up to $7,800, O Globo reports. Hickey heads the Olympic Council of Ireland and serves as president of the European Olympic Committees, an agency that consolidates Europe's 50 national Olympic committees.
