Denver Broncos safety Shiloh Keo was suspended for the first two games of the regular season due to a violation of the NFL substance-abuse policy, the league announced Friday.

Keo was disciplined for a drunk-driving incident near Boise, Idaho, on Feb. 13. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI and was sentenced to one-year probation.

Keo can continue to participate in practices and preseason games. His suspension starts after rosters are cut to 53 players.

The 28-year-old was instrumental in Denver's Super Bowl push. He also recovered the onside kick attempt by New England's Stephen Gostkowski to clinch the Broncos' Super Bowl trip.

Entering his fifth NFL season, Keo has three interceptions in 46 career games with the Houston Texans and Broncos.

Keo's offseason home is in Eagle, Idaho, a suburb of Boise. He played college football at the University of Idaho.
