Kansas City Royals activate CF Lorenzo Cain

The Kansas City Royals activated standout center fielder Lorenzo Cain from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Texas Rangers.

Cain has been sidelined since he injured his left hamstring on June 28. He is batting .290 with eight homers and 39 RBIs in 73 games.

Cain finished third in the American League MVP balloting last season when he batted .307 with 16 homers, 72 RBIs and 28 stolen bases.

Outfielder Brett Eibner was optioned to Triple-A Omaha to open up the roster spot. Eibner was batting .231 with three homers in 26 games for the Royals.
